The same thing crossed my mind as well. It must have been the demolition team from the Oregon D.O.T.D. Being as mountainous Oregon is, they might have assigned the same demolition team that uses dynamite to carve roads and interstates from the hills and mountains. The large file size can be attributed to the 512x512 textures. Maybe it's just me but the mapmaker for this thing (DGUnreal) really rubs me the wrong way.
