Hi guys. I am actually Kabuki...but I forgot my password. If you wanna emil that to me Toxic that'd be great. Preferably to my other email address. But that's not why I am here.

The above link is to a video about aimbotting. It's about 9 minutes long and is VERY informative. And accurate. The video is specifically about a Halo aimbot; but I have tested it in UT2004 and it seems to be valid for this game as well.

Check it out if you have any interest in how to defend yourself against a botter. I was playing the SV server tonight and here's how it went.

A player (un-named on the off chance that I am wrong but you have all played with him and probably wondered the same thing I have) was NEVER missing me with the shock rifle no matter how much I dodged. And I'm pretty friggin good at this game. So I ducked...that's it. I sat in ONE SPOT and ducked and he was unable to hit me for ~10 shots. Finally he turned it off and hit me manually.

Like I said. Very informative. Check out the video. There are plenty on youtube about UT2004 bots, too; but this one if the best I've found. And like I said...at least the ducking trick seems to work on UT as well.

C ya around guys.

When you say he hit you 'manually' you mean he punched you in the face?

Here is the thing for everyone to do , when you think some one is using a hack .

1- You stop playing.
2- You go to spectator mode.
3- Find the suspect and Start Recording a Demo .

This demo then should be submited to any of the DW people or Toxic_Waste to Analize and then Ban than Player if it's valid proof.

Most importantly , Dont go around yelling hack , hack or that 'player' is aimboting this might scare away that player and there won't be a chance to provide proof and info to Ban him . Besides the fact that such conduct is not allowed on Spam Vikings , almost just as much as cheating and both will get you either kicked or banned off Our Server.

Almost all the time theres an Admin on Spam Vikings watching for the Server - might be covered or uncoverd . However Theres always at least 1 admin in the DW Ventrilo . The vent information is posted in the homepage of this website.

Thats cool and everything, but check out this screenshot I grabbed from a webpage that sells aimbots. I think for $40. There is a youtube video out to, but I won't link to it because it advertises their website, and I don't want to encourage their business.

We have also had a designer on by the name of batata. He was banned immediately, but I googled his name and on another forum he goes into detail about his designs not only for ut2004 but for other fps games.
At this point I am paranoid about aimbots because they are highly configurable where acts like ducking don't work. Where it's accuracy can be set down, so it misses sometimes. This combined with its high availability makes me wonder how prevalent it is. I have called aimbot on this server several times.
Once with batata - I was spot on
Once with a guy from [ELF] - admitted and proud aimbotters
Two other times where I wasn't the first one to call it, an admin was but I suspected before admin said anything.

In UT99 the bots were not so sophisticated so they were easy to spot. That really doesn't hold true anymore.

Whenever someone hacks, it just pushes me to try harder and it makes me play at my peak best-ness. I tend to sneak up and flak hackers in the back.

Alyosha - Ya there are plenty of them out there. And I'm sure some are more sophisticated than others. Whatever the case, the person last night had one that I threw off by ducking.

A friend of mine was in the server earlier last night and had the same thing happen. 3 guys were gaurding the middle node on BitchSlap with shock rifles and nailing him every time. So he tried the same thing I did. Instead of jumping and dodging he crouched in one spot with out moving and they all repeatedly shot over him while he picked them off. NONE OF THEM COULD HIT HIM WHEN HE WAS DUCKING IN PLAIN SIGHT.

e_alpha - I'd rather play than make videos. And I don't know if I have the software to do it; or if it even takes special software. I don't go around yelling "bot" or "hack". I've been playing this server for years. You should know that by now. I'd like to think that plays into how seriously you "investigate" the matter. I score at the top of the list for most games I play (even beat the botter last night LOL) so it's not like it keeps me from kicking ass. I just think it's a chickenshit way to play the game. I hate the little pricks. It's worse when a player that is already a good player uses one to compensate for other players that are even better. I'll make a post when I see it happening and I'll forward the guys name to Bomzin.

Doing what I did last night seems like a lot more definitve way of testing them than leaving and making a video. I can't make a video while I'm playing. Maybe the admins around here could try something like that. Relying on us to make videos only helps. There are way for you to help us players, too. I'm not saying that you don't help us out already. But I am saying that it's something you could do.

Everyone - The main point of this post was to inform you all that if you suspect a botter then there are things you can do. Watch the video and find some of your own. Fear of botting and panic yells of "botter" accomplish nothing. Get some information and use it. That's all I'm saying.

When I say Record a Demo I mean this :

UT console Command : demorec 'name your demo here' < Wich Starts Recording

UT console Command : stopdemo <Wich Stops recording.

All this is done inside The Game , and the file obtained is a compressed *.demo file Stored in your UT directory under the Demos Folder - File only playable tru UnrealTournament also , This is what we want , this is how you record a Demo .

We are not asking for a movie made out with some sophisticated Video Editing Software .

Nevertheless -- How you choose to play and deal with this kind of people is up to you , I here just let everyone know , the smart thing to do and what falls inside the Rules of Our Spam Vikings ONS-Server - Wich are not and won't be in question in any way

Ok all this talk of cheats is admirable, but its going a bit overboard. I've seen a total of two obvious hacks in my UT lifetime. Yes its a large issue in gaming but realistically it's not something we can really secure ourselves against. The facts are AntiTCC hasn't been updated in years and I believe the same can be said for safegame. We are also running UTAN which means if people are caught botting on those servers their ban carries over. Even other games with active anti-cheat software (punk buster or steam) have these issues also. The only way to keep them off is the server is to shut the server off. It's part of the online gaming experience i suppose.

Just jump on the server and have some fun.
