Well, I guess this means that the cause of the merging glitch can't be deduced logically. Everyone I know that has offered an explanation of why it happens has turned out to be wrong (Franky, Kabuki, me). Still, there must be a logical explanation for this glitch; it just isn't apparent from direct observation of the game. I have no choice but to lay this subject to rest until someone with insight into the actual game mechanics provides an explanation.
Hamsterman, instead of waiting until you get every magic mp5 in your stock, maybe you should max the one you need first so you can pwn. Then worry about makin the other mp5(s) later. I always found that easier.

I heard that vorpals take away potential xp. Finding out that I don't get a large boost in xp after vorping a titan, I was quite dissapointed.
I quit using vorpals unless I want some points :P

The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will.

The answer was plainly given by Nutty.

To everyone: There are few totally locked rules about the RPG mod from Druids. (probably the same for the UT2004 RPG) It was quirky from day 1 of it's debut and has had so many tweaks and additions in the following years that there's probably no real way of describing it's inner workings or if there is, it would likely require the same amount of time to do that as it would to create an entirely new RPG mod! ;) We refer to these anomalies as "undocumented features", and I can assure you, the weapons rolling together isn't the only one we've discovered over the lives of MM 1 & 2! And in the few months that I've been playing an AM on Server 2, I've seen first hand, nearly every possible odd event that's been described in this thread! So...there are lots of theories, but they are just that! Theories! I'd suggest putting aside the considerations of "why" and just enjoy the game..quirks and all! :compress:
To the AMs: My heartiest and sincere thanks!! You long time AMs are a true boon to everyone on the server! When playing the RPG as the team game it is meant to be, rolling weapons for others on the early waves is what it's all about! Conversely, I won't ask for weapons from any AM after wave 9 because I know you're now into the serious business of rolling weapons for your survival! ;) And that slight modification Killa mentioned? Postulate it thusly: All you Vorps belong to Kat & Nutcracker! And in that same team spirit, any Medic or Weapons Master who comes up with an energy weapon should offer it up for copy to the server population, it could save a life! :D
On the use of Vorpals: Vorpals are for killing! It and Rage are the only +10 weapons achieveable by normal means (not counting the +1 and Double Magic Modifier of the AMs) It is true, you do not reap loads of XP by using this weapon You get XP by getting hits on monsters AND by killing them. The more times you tag a Titan before killing it, the more XP you'll receive. If your mighty Vorpal procs and you one shot kill the monster, the XP will be less. Those are the simple facts. The rest of the tricks with a vorp lie in the RPG flavor of individual preferences on how it's used. From my perspective: Shock rifles are the best Vorpals! As a mid level ( or wherein you have adequate ammo bonus), it was more of a survivalist weapon! There were always times where I didn't care about the XP, I just wanted to make it to the next wave! And that meant killing things as quickly as possible! Hoping that it'd proc when that Raptor was in my face! Now, as my WM in Server 1 is high level, it's more of a fun thing, where, when I feel like pwning a wave, I will use it exclusively. Or, if we are mid wave 12 or later and low levels are out, then it becomes the survivalist tool again! And now that my AM on Sever 2 is at a comfortable level, I can have the uber of all Vorpals, the +22 (however briefly...darn! adren runs out!) I am kicking myself for not playing an AM on Server 1 from the start when it had the Double Magic Modifier! I could be level 500+ by now! LOL!!! There's no denying the fun of hearing multple "POWs"!!!! from that shock, but if you're looking for XP (and ultimately you want that XP so you can level up!) try using a Piercing or Null. :D
See what multiple cups of coffee can do?
