I found this article today....interesting....it specifically mentions unreal tournament 2004 and call of duty. On a funnier note, playing the sims did not help to improve your vision!!!
In the new study, her team tested the contrast sensitivity function of 22 students, then divided them into two groups: One group played the action video games "Unreal Tournament 2004" and "Call of Duty 2." The other played "The Sims 2," which is richly visual, but does not require as much visual-motor coordination.
The volunteers each played 50 hours during the 9-week test. Then their vision was tested again.
Those who played the action games showed an average 43 percent improvement in their ability to discern close shades of gray — close to the difference Bavelier had previously observed between game players and non-game players — whereas the Sims players showed no improvement.
I just keep chuckling when I read the last line of the quote about the people who were assigned to play "TheSims" and not having any improvement in their vision. So in other words, you cannot improve with just any old game...UT2004 or COD2 are proven vision improvers....lol
I -knew- there had to be some good coming out of all the time I've invested in UT and CoD!!
WoooooHoooo!!! :thumbright:
An interesting side note...Mr. T and I both went to the eye doctor last week...he had a little trouble with the depth perception test ( you know..the one where they show you the 3D images that are in grayscale dots)...whereas I breezed right through mine! Proof!! LOL!!!
