Hmm...well Gritnights went on vacation and this thread was the result! ;)
There are three TankMeUps on SV which are tricked out with uber tanks and other assorted "tank-like" (or you read that as massively overpowered!) vehicles:
Karma...a term that comprises the entire cycle of cause & effect... Kat...a supercilious quadrupedal pile of fur that doesn´t give a flying fig for Karma...
From what I've seen most people who don't like tank maps can stand one decently short match, but will leave if another's voted straight afterwards. Also I think all of them could do with some bug-fixing, especially Minus.
One of the main reasons i stopped playing ONS was the TankMeUp maps. IMHO they are just lame (for me mostly because they are so slow & take so dang long & they are just camping maps & let's face it I'm a Manta whore) & the DW server had become the all TankMeUp all the time server. I don't feel it is that way now with only 4 (6 kind of) TankMeUp maps. Don't get me wrong, when they are voted, I just leave & play some MM & hope a better map will be up next. I think the answer might be to switch to about 20 maps played before a map can be played again, then the TankMeUp maps will be played about 20% of the time instead of 33%. Just my opinion.
This keeps coming back to people complaining about the supertank maps. As Kat posted already, there is only 3 tank me up maps and how many other regular maps. Most ONS maps have a tank on it. This isnt TAM or DM..its ONS..a type of warfare..there are lots of vehicles and yes tanks. After the 3 tank me ups get voted then its time for all the other maps. Its already been discussed about increasing the space in the rotation so that the tankmeups dont come back around again so quick. Thats the best thing to do I myself think.
What is it u want really, no vehicles at all...just skorps and mantas? I myself do enjoy all the maps that get played, from dreamus to Minustankmeup, all fun to me, i just play the map no matter what. Its all about the variety to me, if it was all just skorps and mantas I would get bored of that. Maybe it all about majority vote but IMO if you take maps off that ARE mostly popular, they must be since they get played alot, then you would loose players that do enjoy those maps. My opinion is keep increasing the space in the rotation to put more time in between maps and it would also give the other less played maps a chance to get played as well. $.02
What can one do to make most of the players happy, most of the time?
I think, for the most part, we hit a decent middle ground....but it's an ongoing process...the tweaking continues! ;)
On a personal note...Opinions will always vary and I'm very glad to see those expressed here in a logical fashion! Yaaaay!! for reasoned discussion and the absence of flame wars! I appreciate your thoughts, guys...keep 'em coming!

hmmm, just reminded me an idea that was brought earlier.
MantMeUps?? lol
The difference between successful people from others is
not in the lack of strength,
not in the lack of knowledge,
but rather in the lack of will. FFE466
think BIG. Get mantas with more HPs, more armor, some different guns, and maybe a big transport manta! And I reckon manuverability needs to be better, and AVRiLs will just enrage me on manta-only maps, especially if it's bots firing them.
Dropped into Omni earlier, and found them playing - no joke - MinusMinoMeUp. It's simply Minus with every vehicle replaced by a Mino. Total chaos. Funniest part was when someone said that it was a 'test', as if a map full of Minotaurs needed testing :D
I've had the idea of having a Scorpion-based map for quite a while... if you look around there are actually a lot of cool Scorps out there, especially on Assault maps.
I was thinking, one of the problems with Grit and Minus is that it's pretty difficult to hit the core unless you have a Hammerhead, Nexus or (on Minus) the Ion. Maybe we need to change the vehicle spawns round a bit and generally make hitting the core a little easier without the Nexus. It's a little easier on Nevermore though.
