This is part of the problem , I would like to hear the whole comment about him being a smart leader , you may not agree with his views but that doesn't make him an idiot , castro that is.
No one is trying to turn us into a Nazi regime.

Also universal health coverage does not equal communism . I wish they would stop throwing that around and start talking about some real facts .

There is fear mongering going on on both sides of the isle .

Whats even more scary is the people that get their news from this bone head .

It's not just the game B it's those who choose not to buy health insurance have no problem buying Xbox 360's/PS3's, nice computers, flat screen tv's, nice cars ect.. ect.. I want to get rid of my 2003 Grand Prix GT and get a new truck and I want to replace our 61" projection tv for a 58" lcd not to mention there is a lot of other toys I would like to get but I think my wifes health isurance even at $450 per month is a tad bit more important.
You still have not addressed those that simply cannot afford it . I thought it was $550 also with your employer picking up half .

Also in a Democracy, socialism is merely the consciousness of the peoples will for charity.

I pay $550 and this includes my wifes health insurance and both of our dental and cancer insurance.
My employer pays just my health insurance which would cost me another $450 if I had to pay for it.

In the face of such monumental challenges, what can the uninsured do?

Fortunately, if you're among the many without health care coverage, there are some courses of action that you can pursue. First, if you know in advance that you'll need treatment, inform your service provider or hospital beforehand that you have no insurance coverage and ask for a discounted price. If they choose not to accommodate your request, do your best to find a provider who will.

As a part of your search, don't neglect to explore your options for free health screenings by your local county health department or nonprofit agencies such as the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. If you're a veteran, the Veterans Administration offers a network of hospitals that provide care and services at reduced rates (or completely free if you qualify). These agencies can be invaluable in both providing care and referring you to other organizations that may be of further assistance to you. For instance, you might qualify for Medicaid coverage, even if only temporarily (your local Social Services or public health agency will help to determine your eligibility). And if you're in need of prescription medications but don't have the money to buy them, ask your pharmacist for the contact information of the pharmaceutical manufacturer. Then contact the company directly to request a price discount. Some pharmaceutical companies may very well assist you, but you won't know until you ask.

If all these efforts fail (or even if they succeed in obtaining a discounted price for services and medication but you still find yourself facing a large bill that you simply cannot pay), don't panic – it isn't the end of the world. And before you charge it to your credit card, ask the provider to assist you by agreeing to accept a monthly payment plan. Even if they charge you interest (and, happily, not all of them will), it'll likely be significantly less than what your credit card company will hit you with.

Just hope you don't ever have any actual health problems that go down on your permanent record, because then you become more of a walking "pre-existing condition", and not as much of a person who's worth of even being given the opportunity to buy medical insurance at any price for your needed treatment.

Ok, if I had a full-time job with an employer big enough to even offer group medical insurance (my last one was not), then they'd be obligated to accept my application to buy medical insurance.

If I didn't spend more business hours than not wretching over the toilet, I'd do just that. Hell, if I could do that, I could pay the ~$1700.00 for my monthly medication bill myself. Nevermind that the fact that the next country over sells the same pills for a fraction of the price, I should still feel lucky to be offered such reasonable healthcare.

Sure, the healthcare flowed like water a few years ago when I was making... let's just say a high-middle class salary... but fall off that horse and it's more of a bitch to catch up to than one might think.

Sure I could work out monthly payments... but needing financial support to keep the lights on at the moment, I can't break off much of a payment that that'll make a dent in the tens of thousands of dollars I owe various hospitals and doctors.

I would be well enough to do some part time work, but any money I make pretty much closes off any avenue of Social Security help whatsoever. I was denied last time for having too many assets. That's right, the $300 Miata I owned (that I was given for free actually)... was considered A SECOND CAR... and was enough for them to determine I have too many resources and so they can't help me.

Other than that, they'd be glad to help anyone in need. You've got to be pretty deep in the shit for several years before you can even get considered for Social Security benefits, and even then it's far from a given.

I'm all for personal responsibility but the costs are out of control .

The uninsured don't know they have a problem until they are heading for the emergency room , no checkups you forget . They're already in deep doo-doo by the time they hit the emergency room , maybe you'll be lucky enough for them to right you off , maybe you'll spend the rest of your life paying for it.

A large portion of Americans may not believe in what is being done , an even larger portion agrees something needs to be done .

The root of this problem stems from the insurance industry and heavy regulation on them is just about the same thing as the government running it.

I'm all for people making a dollar , but do we have to make soo much on something so important, that being life.

Another thing I don't understand . The Republicans are a heavy christian group , always invoking god and country . The bible is an advocate for the poor . This I can't wrap my head around and on another thought , What would Jesus do . :sthinking:
it isn't the end of the world.
It could be for the uninsured .

1st point
Castro is an idiot and was (may still be) a ruthless dictator. You don't see people running away from this country because of the president do you?

2nd point
Nope I have no doubt it would not be a Nazi regime or Communist regime but it sure as hell could turn into an American regime. I love this country and would die for this country but at the same time I work my ass off to ensure I can live a decent life. If I lost my job tomorrow I would be flipping burgers at McDonalds with a smile on my face the next day or I would be digging ditches and shoveling shit so I could stay on my feet. I may not like it but if thats what I had to do then it's not something I would be ashamed of doing. Sure I may have to put off health insurance for a few months until I was able to get it but I wouldn't need the government to hand it to me. I wouldn't go on unemployment and I wouldn't take a free handout. I would get off my ass and do something. If that meant selling my computer, my TV's, my Wii system or anything else I have to make sure I could have food, clothes, a roof over my head and insurance I would have no problems doing that. People today just don't want to do what they have to do Bomzin. If you lost your job would you sit around waiting for handouts? You don't strike me as the type of person who would.

As far as Glen Beck he may not be the most rational person out there but he does have and make good points. He also has equally bad points.

No one is asking the government to hand it to them . It's a collective effort for the good of all . Yes I know how that sounds. It's medicare for everyone . Payed for by you , me and every other working American . All those people that can afford it and choose not to will no longer have the option , they will have it and would be paying for it .

Plain and simple , there are X amount of jobs out there that don't offer any insurance or pay enough for the person to get it, most of witch have people working them that work far harder then you . That amount is growing constantly .
I wouldn't take a free handout.
But it's all alright for your mom to take a free handout?

And we already are a American regime .

In politics, a regime is the form of government: the set of rules, cultural or social norms, etc. that regulate the operation of government and its interactions with society. For instance, the United States has one of the oldest regimes still active in the world, dating to the ratification of its Constitution in 1789. Although modern usage often gives the term a negative connotation, like an authoritarian one, Webster's definition clearly states that the word "regime" refers simply to a form of government.

Yes something needs to be done but Universal health care is not the answer. It doesn't work in Europe and it doesn't work in Canada. I'm all for helping people and want to see a change but again not one that comes from the government.

I have no idea what Jesus would do but I can assure you that he would have left the decision for us to make not the government and if we make the wrong one and let the government have there way then not just those without health care now are going to suffer but a 100 million plus are going to be in the same boat thats sinking.

This is not something that needs do be shoved down our throat like Obama wants to do. It takes time (I know thats not on peoples side)but if were going to make a change and we all know it has to be done then lets do it right the 1st time.
