Keybinds:
Movement - WASD
Shield - Mouse Thumb 1
Assault - 2
Bio - X
Shock - Mouse Wheel Tilt Right
Link - Q
Mini - E
Flack - Mouse Wheel Tilt Left
Rockets - Mouse Wheel Down
LG - Mouse Wheel Up
Enter/Use - Mouse Thumb 2

Also have my weapon hand set to hidden, most of the reticles for weapons are the default scaled down to 0.60 with some of the colors changed. Shock, LG, and sniper are just "dot" set to max size (2.0) and different colors to tell them apart.

Mouse:
Logitech G5 (recommend any wired laser mouse, Logitech, OCZ, Razer)
DPI: 2000 (best to set your mouse dpi to maximum and adjust in-game multiplier accordingly, another option is to set your in-game multiplier to 1 and adjust your mouse's dpi accordingly)
In Game Multiplier: 0.55
MouseXMultiplier=1.000000
MouseYMultiplier=0.820000 (Screen is 16:10, makes aim more "steady" - easier headshots)

Mouse 360 (4.5 in or 11.5 cm - measured from middle of mouse / laser location)

FOV:
Usually 80 or 90 depending on the situation. Mostly 80 for ONS.

Dodge Jump:
Alot of people complain about my "magic" dodging/jumping, all I am doing is dodge-jumping which can be executed by simply tapping a direction twice + jump. For example, a dodge jump to the left is simply left, left, jump. If you are having difficulty executing this, up your dodge time in the settings -> input -> double-click dodge time box. Don't set it too high or you will end up dodging when you don't want to.

Aiming:
Particularly with hitscan, I rarely if ever attempt to actively track someone in the hopes of hitting them. Generally I aim where I expect them to be and press fire when they arrive. If I do have to track someone, I do it as much as possible with movement (WASD) and not with my mouse.

FOV 80? Wowsers. I've been playing on 100 for all gametypes for a long time. I would've thought that a long range game like ONS would warrant a higher FOV. To each his/her own.

"Magic jump". heh.

Field of View determines how much you can see from end-to-end of your screen. This also determines "zoom" if it was a camera.

The smaller the Field of View, the stronger/closer the zoom.

I had mine set to 100 because I wanted to see as much as possible (increase awareness in what's around me), but after thinking about it, decreasing it to 80 may help me in the distance when these small tiny dots a mile away are shooting shock beams at me.

Thanks for the tips, Goose. I should try them out (one at a time).
I'm not changing my visual settings though. I appreciate the eye candy, and I do take the time to smile when I'm placed in a beautiful environment!

Might have to explain the mouse DPI stuff to me. I know my mouse does not do well because it lags in windows alone .

Goose thanks for sharing, looking forward to trying those settings out.

A couple of more things (some of this is redundant, but I am lazy).

Disable mouse acceleration in windows completely:
1) In Control Panel -> Mouse, make sure "Enhance pointer precision" is NOT checked.

2) In order to eliminate all (windows based) mouse acceleration, you have to patch the registry. The following file has the appropriate patches for various refresh rates (most likely 60Hz if you are on an LCD): http://www.mediafire.com/?h2ek1nymcny

In game settings:
Set "World Detail" to Low (fake objects that just block your view)

Disable Foliage (more fake objects that just block your view)

Disable Coronas (fake effect that only serves as a distraction)

Disable Weather Effects (fake effect that only serves as a distraction)

Disable Trilinear Filtering (better performance)

Hide Weapon (see more of what is in front of you)

Disable Weapon Bob (it is a fake effect)

Bind your weapons (never miss a weapon selection again)

I noticed that you set reduce mouse lag to false. I always set it to true because it ensures your mouse is always responsive even when you are getting bad FPS. I can definitely notice an input lag when it is disabled. Note that enabling it will absolutely kill your FPS if you have a slow computer but for any modern computer you won't notice much of a difference.

I also set my engine crosshair to red so that all my vehicles and guns that don't have a predetermined crosshair have a red dot.

I'll post that .ini change when I get home.

And yes, people still complain about my jumping too. Its just a dodgejump. Really useful, but don't overuse it. Players with good hitscan will destroy you if you just dodgejump all the time.

My mouse is a Logitech G500 wired. It's set at 1600dpi and I use .47 sens. keyboard is just some Logitech POS.

Goose has different guns that I do, but I still use WASD:
Shield - Q
Use key - E
Assault - R
Shock - 4
Link - 5
Mini - 6
Rox - X
Flak - C
Lightning - V
Mines - T
Throw - \

I used to have Avril binded too, but I never bothered to make the ini change on my new PC. Dont care that much since I usually try to rox vehicles first because its more fun.

Also as an aiming tip, use your movement to aim. People don't seem to understand this. I'll usually keep my crosshair still and dodge so that my crosshair will be on someone after I dodge, or in the middle of it.

Is it possible to directly switch to your Avril rather than switching to your rockets before your Avril?

Indeed. It requires an .ini change but you need to know the code for the key you want to change it to. Lucky for you im not busy at work atm and googled it.

In System\UT2004.ini:
You can edit in your user.ini file to bind the avril to a key. I use the letter Q so mine is:

Q=getweapon Onslaught.ONSAVRiL

Actually, the whole keybind I have is:

Q=getweapon Onslaught.ONSAVRiL | PipedSwitchWeapon 4

because if I don't have the avril then I want the shock rifle.

What that guy says is stupid. I would NEVER have my shock come second after any weapon...but just incase you want to do that for another weapon.
