1) Open your User.ini file in the System folder.
2) Pick brock, gorge, xan or malcolm
3) Search for the line:
[GUI2K4.UT2k4MainPage]
TotalUnlockedCharacters=
4) Change to [GUI2K4.UT2k4MainPage]
TotalUnlockedCharacters=Xan;Malcolm;ClanLord
5) Search for the lines:
[XGame.xPawn]
PlacedCharacterName=
PlacedFemaleCharacterName=
6) Input the names of the characters you want to force to like this:
PlacedCharacterName=Gorge
PlacedFemaleCharacterName=Rylisa
7) Open your UT2004.ini (System folder again)
8) Search for:
bForceDefaultCharacter=
bAllowPlayerLights=
bColoredDMSkins=
8) Change them to True
9) Search for:
Character=
and change it to the model your forcing. Like this:
Character=Gorge
10) Start the game & pick one of the models your forcing as your character
11) Test this by running Instant Action and see if it works.
And you're done!!
I learned this handy trick from c9hno13 (really good Assault player) and it's legit in tourney matches too. :)
While it does take out the "aesthetic" component of the various skins, I'm personally more concerned about getting better and don't really care how pretty the game looks (and this makes it easier to spot players as they all look the same).
Forcing models is for lamers. I lke that " I'm personally more concerned about getting better and don't really care how pretty the game looks". How does forcing models make you better? all your better at is hitting the same kind of skin. I would go insane if everyone had the same model. I play so much with the same people that when I see a certain model I change my playing style a bit.

I hope 2007 brings back the option to pull meshes and skins, and defaults said option on. :p
actualy forcing models is very benficial. the problem with epic is that they did not create all skins equally. the black female robot is the prime example. on a dark map that skin is almost impossible to see. what about the person who likes to play as Skirilax? or one of the humans? the black female robot gives that player an unfair advantage. if you force model you eliminate the unfair advantages of the bad skins. i for one force Xan and Rylisa. Xan is the model i like to use since im an old school UT99 player and loved beating up on Xan hehe. Xan is also a relatively fat model with a definable head. Thus i can see him pretty easy even on dark maps and can aim for his head. However when someone uses the black female robot i cant see her for shit and that is even with all my settings maxed out and such.Namu wrote:Forcing models is for lamers. Is there a setting to force specific models, such as the aforementioned "stealth" models? Because you're right - there ARE some of those, and they irritate me to no end. I play a custom skin that shows up on most boxen as the default Rylisa, and wouldn't mind levelling the playing field if it didn't make the game look so bland as to have *everyone* looking the same.
sorry Purity. it is an all or nothing thing. so every male skin is Xan to me and every female skin is rylisa to me. sorry :(
Hey st i forced all my models to gorge, but occasionally i get one with a wierd bleached out skin. Any fix for that, or just dont use gorge?
I asked a few people diffrent models and how easy it is to hit a headshot about 60% said no diffrence, whats your take?

I noticed that for some reason it's easier to headshot the skeleton guy with the top hat, although it could just be my vivid imagination mixed with the drugs.
Well, the artist who created him was probably on drugs at the time, so it would not surprise me.ifondlesweaters wrote:I noticed that for some reason it's easier to headshot the skeleton guy with the top hat, although it could just be my vivid imagination mixed with the drugs.
