However, we do need to have large-group practice sessions as we need to work on our communication & coordination skills. Having 10+ people all trying to communicate over one voice channel can get confusing very quickly. Like in aviation, the voice channel should be used sparingly to get info to the people that need it. And that takes practice.

That said, our biggest issue getting people together is timezones. While a 3hr difference isn't so bad for the US/Canadian folks, the players from AUS, UK & EU are too far ahead to have mid-week late night practice, especially when most of us are working the next day. (Tho, I will gladly sacrifice next day alertness for late-night practice :drunken: ).

That basically leaves us with afternoon/evening times on weekends. So practicing 'strike-team' tactics in small groups can happen any time, especially if you see some SVA's on the public server & just decide to go to the scrim server for some 'together time'. But the large get-togethers I think need to happen during the *off* weeks between scrims at the regular scrim time.

Or am I just flapping my gums? :error:

Long winded I am....maybe a little sappy...oh well...
There is a lot of truth to this and I hope anyone who sets SVA in their name reads it and thinks about it. As a noobie I hope I am not talking out of turn but it seems to me these issues are the heart of the matter for any SVA. Time zones are a biggie and the fact is not everyone can practice at the same time. This means lessons learned should be passed on somehow maybe by demos or even PM text of what happened during a part of a match. For me playing on the public server is always a lot better when someones coordinating the push. Unfortunatly most of the time on the public server it's a case of too many cheifs, too few indians and a couple of total spaz;s thrown in for fun. Still a gas but not not real productive. We hav eall played DW's, and we rarely win, but ain't it a blast?! One team of really great players,..I don't know about you ,but for me more is better! I can imagine two teams, playing together as wel as against, honing skills to become unstoppable! But maybe I go too far, from all I've seen here the DW's have gone out of their way to play us, (seem not to mind kicking our butts without any real effort)Toxic still has a DW vs SVA serverup (almost always empty) and BRYON _of_ OYBRO has set up TS2 where even I can run it...it seems more than an invite to me.....looks almost like a challenge! Dear Toxic,.. if I got it wrong just delete this post please!. What DO You Think SVA. Do we wanna play?

Why not within the SVA group set up practices for peeps in the UK side of the pond, and another group for the US side? Pick a leader among both groups to coordinate on what to practice on. another thought is that maybe one side can be more defensive based, and the other offensive based? Then when game days comes, the leaders of both sides work their groups on the maps?

Just a thought :compress:

I think Kaeolian is our only UK player, so I would vote Kae to be the leader on the UK side. And Kae, you can handle...hmmm...the offensive push. The rest of us will handle defense.

Am I wrong? Are there more Europe based players?

No, I think you are right.

If the timezone problem is mainly in the U.S., maybe have an east coast and west coast side....

Just a thought, continue on...

Yeah, thanks to a funky accent/speak impairment (take your pick), a lot of people think I'm British, but I'm not. I live in California.

Jolly good, wot?

No doubt, I spent a semester in England, and they loved the American accent.

Hmmm.... well only six people were there on Saturday. I'm not sure how the practice went on Wednesday, but it was probably the same. Is there a better time that works for everybody? Earlier on Saturday... Friday? If more people could do it in the afternoon that would allow Kaeolian to practice too. Feedback peeps... pm me or post, whichever, but we NEED to be more organised as a team.
