I use Computer Associates, Have never had any problems since getting it.
It uses Zone alarm firewall If you get the Internet suite but you control it through CA , cause I didnt like there GUI. Not 1 single virus or trojan or worm since installing 3 years ago. I have one comp. with norton and it has gotten trojans even while its running. I do shut my firewall down when playing UT but I have a hardware firewall in my router.

DUCK! Oh wait guess I shoulda said that before I shot you huh?

Call me old fashioned, but I like to only use hardware firewalls. If you have a good router, something like the Netgear FVS318, you can control all the packets going in or out, and all ports. You can log what you want to log, and its one less thing for the computer to do in terms of cpu or memory resources. Your totally invisible to the outside world for all practical purposes.
I use the Avast Anti-Virus, but shut it off when playing games....

-There you go .. - Actually you can decide what ports to leave open to the outside world - Having a router is the best firewall ever ..- Personally I dont use antivirus software , I have tried with most brands and I ended up knowing that the only thing i get out of them is my system been slower and crapier same with firewalls I always felt they are such a mess.. Been a really long time without antivirus and when for some reazon i get one viri or a couple i just go and SR a day or two back and thats it.. Got to love System Restore! In the worst case I just reinstall my OS - Much much better doing that than having to deal with an all time mess and pc resourses consuming that AV software brings .. eww!! .. - Of course of course you got to be carefull with what you DL and what places you are browsing around the net .. -

The only antivirus for Windows I'll trust is Avast! (http://www.avast.com) It saved my computer during a heinous virus attack on my university, and I was quite pleased with its performance from then on. Sadly, something around the same time as the virus, or some destructive effect of same, all but killed the machine anyway, but the virus was removed, and unlike a lot of people, I still had a computer, mostly. The campus was running Norton, as was I at the time, DOH!
Anyway, my best solution to the virus problem currently is to simply avoid using Windows, but if you can't/won't do that, go for Avast. It's a hog, but it's a Windows program, and you do need a lot of power to cover those holes in it.

I have been useing Trend Micro for the last couple of years and have yet to download or get a virus. I also run a router in between. But fo all intense and purposes I have found Trend to be pretty reliable and it auto updates and costs half what Norton does.

No shame, no dishonor, will run away to fight another day!
