-- I think you would be the only one using it .. Besides I keep thinking is just silly in a small map full of fog .. Im not even near to think the peeps spawning there will swich to LR to take down 7 or 8 in a losing match .. I mean it doesnt make much of a difference anyway might add it just for the hell of it --

Well last night during horrible lag spikes i noticed the server hitting 300+ channels. Toxic i think we need to create a simple map to see which weapons contribute most to it. Looking at utstats it claims 48 players cycled through the server. Which is wierd cuase usually people love to play it out.

- Well Im also rezising the map box to a minimun , the edge bloking volumes .. and see if that has a positive inpact also .. as about the channels I believe is link-gun and flack wich use the most .. because of the fire rate and in the flack case.. well because of the Flack.. --

How about having the mini in all weapon lockers. I heard that it is the servers best friend. Link is needed for nodes, so you cannot do without that. Are there any health pick-ups and other such things? I don't remember there being much on that sort of stuff to cause so many channels being used. Perhaps it is the grenade launcher, when each person has a launched grenade, maybe thats the source???? I'll search around and see if I can find some answers...

Yup...it was definitely a rapid fire slide-show in there! Particularly from the middle of the last round to the end. The one time I actually got my hands on a manta and couldn't vent my road rage for the chop!

Far as the weapons go...I agree...it's the flak cannon loadout that's causing the overload. I'm with Hornet on the rockets and grenades...much more useful on this map. I'd still like to see the sniper rifle at the cores. For those of us who like to snipe it's a much more viable weapon on this map. With the fog levels, low visibility etc. the lightning rifle's zoom is nearly useless...visual quality is nil and it's got that annoying glare right around the center of the reticule. And as I believe Nutcracker mentioned earlier...it's a dead giveaway of your position! Keep the lightning rifles..but yes..put them in the lockers at the primaries. My two cents.... :flower:

Basically any projectile weapon is going to cost you some amount of resources to handle. Minigun and Shock Primary and LtG/SR are all very cheap resource wise because they're a simple vector trace with a check to see if anything is hit. Every Flak Primary launches about nine projectiles simultaneously. Flak secondary explodes into as many projectiles as well. If you want to cut down on the strain put Rocket Launchers in place of Flak and see how that works out. One rocket is a lot easier to handle than ~nine flak chunks with 0-2 bounces each.

But you have to remember that 90% of the time people are using flak SECONDARY on that map to get teh center node down., which correct me if I'm wrong is simply one channel. As opposed to only giving people link, in which case they will pump the primary from all spots on the map, each blob of which uses a channel. So if you have 10 people pumping flack secondary=10 channels.

10 people pumping link primary with (about) 4 active at any time = 40 channels.

I couldn't find any useful info on weapons and channel counts. The ut2004wiki just mentioned something briefly, but no hard numbers or ranking of any sort. Nothing in the ut2004 bible talks about this either. sigh.

-- Im with Toxic in this one.. Just because is the way everybody is playing dreamus Now as it is on the server .. Those Link Gun Rains Kill IT!! THE FIRE RATE!!! that what he said the other night is true while a player takes a shot of flack ,, another player will take around 8 shots of linkgun .. and as I posted before .. a constant link gun fire will generate around 1300 triangles AS- a constant flack fire will generate no more than 350 per player of course -- The way I like the wepon lockers is this..

-- Shock in every node .. Since its really usefull and Wail is right is cheap in all senses .. (unless combos)

-- link gun at every node but as i said with the less amount of ammo (70) but if agreed can be taken out of primary completely that was my original idea.

--Flack just at Secondary / maybe at primary if not 'granades'

--Rockets at Middle node

As for minigun theres no problem with having it any where.. I think the top trouble weapons are these above ... As soon as We get to a decition here ill give out the map for a test ok!! The sniper Rifle is back in the base for those who use it ..

The health pickups are cut to half .. as you already can see in the Map runnin in the server right now .. But for this new one as I said ill integrate the Avril at base to the next close weapon locker so we cut out Its pick up base .. thats more channels less -
