Anyone get the 8800GTX card yet?

I see newegg has them for $649.00

768mb memory, DirectX 10 (one of the first ones.)

From the reviews I have read about the card, it takes a 4 core cpu or 4 cpu system to just feed it enough data because it can process so much so fast, a single 8800GTX is faster than Dual-SLI enabled 7950GX2 cards, or Quad-SLI.

OMG!, OMG!, I want one!!

I can feel the tug of my credit card....

My wife and I are Hero fans. We have not watched the last yet, however... Still sitting on the DVR.

I just pray I don't get burned like I did on Alias.

If you have PCI-Express, then it should work fine in your system. If you have AGP, then "no".

Don't believe everything you hear. I find it very hard to believe it would take 4 cpus or cores to cripple any beast of a vid card. ANd if this was true then the 8800 would be the last upgrade for a quite a time. Especially considering that quad core implementations are having a hard time utilizing that much power. Simply put, games are not all multi threaded. Yeah this 8800 will beat any current card out there is certain situations, but not all.

Correct Namu!

I'm not sure if there are any games yet that are actually programmed utilize more than 2 cores. And I'm pretty sure that huge Nvidia card is overkill for anything out yet -- I mean, it's all in the game programming and the ability of your computer to utilize the power of the card.

In my system, a 128MB "PX6200TD" Winfast NVidia card runs any game I have thrown at it at full FPS and no glitches. (I should mention my 2GB of ram help quite a bit.)

Then in our other system (same computer, but better processor, and only 1GB of ram) a 256MB X1300 ATI card can hardly run HALO smoothly on the minimum settings, but can run UT2004 on nearly full settings smoothly.

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39930

Article is based off of this.
http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=571019

PCGH has this article, I don't see the interview (where they got the information from that forum I don't know. )
http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en ... f%26sa%3DG

Basically these are the claims.

-Game scales well on quad/oct core systems.
-SLI shows increased performance at high res, crossfire maybe (untested).
-7 series Geforce cards, or ATI equivalent will work well.
-Game supports DX10 at launch

Looks and sounds like I was on the money upgrading to a x2 dual core and dx 9 - 7 series card for my machine, glade I'll be qable to play three without anymore upgrades. becasue my next one will be a new machine in about 2 years.
