Hello everybody. We at )o( are organising an onslaught mixer tournament and everyone here is welcome. Hopefully we can build a strong inter-server community as we look forward to UT3. Here's the advert...

Overview:
The OCMOT is a mixer tournament open to all UT players. Competing players will be divided into teams, for which they compete for the duration of the tournament. Matches will be played 8v8, as the best of three custom ONS maps, on private servers which the Omnip)o(tents will provide.

The tournament will start with a league stage to determine seedings, and so that every team plays several matches; followed by a knock-out stage to find the tournament winners.

This will be a chance for players to become more familiar with our UT community, as well as the chance to experience more competitive matches, with better organised teamwork than can be found on public servers.

Match Times:
Matches will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons/evenings starting on Saturday 31st March, at the following time:

2:00pm Pacific Time (PDT / GMT-7) e.g. Los Angeles
3:00pm Mountain Time (MDT / GMT-6) e.g. Denver
4:00pm Central Time (CDT / GMT-5) e.g. Chicago
5:00pm Eastern Time (EDT / GMT-4) e.g. New York

(note: the east coast of North America uses Eastern Standard Time (EST / GMT-5) in the winter and Eastern Daylight Time (EDT / GMT-4) in the summer. "EDT" is not a typo.)

10:00pm Western Europe (BST / WEST / GMT+1) e.g. London
11:00pm Central Europe (CEST / GMT+2) e.g. Paris

There will be no matches during the Easter weekend.

Matches can be expected to last up to 2 hours. Teams will play two matches per week for a few weeks (depending on how many players sign up and hence how many teams there are).

"I want to play":
If you wish to play in this tournament, please read the rest of this post carefully before you post in the sign-up thread at omnipotents.com. Please note the times that the matches will be played. Players who sign up now, but later drop out (without good reason) will not be looked kindly on.

Unless you are reasonably confident that you will be able to play in the majority of the matches, then please DO NOT sign-up to compete. While it is expected that everyone will need to miss a small number of matches due to real-life commitments; any players regularly missing matches, can not expect to be welcome in any future Omnip)o(tent sponsored event and, by your team captain's decision, you may find your position in the team taken by a replacement player.

Those players who wish to play some part in the tournament, but are aware that they will not be able to attend regularly may sign-up as a substitute. Be aware that if you do sign-up as a substitute, you are not guaranteed to play in any matches - you can only play if a team is short of players for a particular match.

Rules:
  • Best of 3 maps;
  • 10 minute rounds;
  • Destroying the powercore within normal time gains 2 points. Winning in overtime only yields 1 point;
  • Map score limit of 2 points (note, this may be different to what you are used to on public servers);
  • Every team will have a captain whose responsibility it is to organise his/her team;
  • Team captains must take screenshots at the end of each map showing the scores, and post these to the appropriate thread on the forum;
  • Each team will be provided with a private, password protected, channel on our Team Speak 2 server for in-game communication;
  • Every team member joining the game server/team speak server by the start of the match MUST play in at least one of the first two maps. If the match goes to a deciding map, then team captains are free to pick their best line-ups;
  • For each match the first team ("home team") listed in the schedule will play as the red team for the entire match;
  • All spectators must be signed in as "Coach";
  • If a team only has 6 or 7 players show up then they will be allocated a substitute. Substitutes will be chosen by the opposing team captain, from the pool available. If no substitutes are available, then the team(s) lacking players must play a man (or 2) down (e.g. 6 players playing against 8 players);
  • If a team have less than 6 players (i.e. 1-5) show up, then they FORFEIT the match;
  • Matches start no later than 15 minutes past the start time. There will be no "can we wait another 5 minutes for so and so to load up". If you are waiting for a late player, tough! Play without them or forfeit.
  • In the event of a tie in the standings, the team with the highest points difference will get the higher seeding;
  • Excessive chatter in the general chat during the match will result in a kick from that map. The team will play a person down. I'm looking to cut down on the excessive banter I saw in our first AS tournament which bogged down the matches; we have voice servers for a reason, and UT has teamsay for communication. If there are issues, direct questions to the captain and admin(s);
  • Taunts binded to movements may result in a kick from the map until the binds are removed;
  • Match times are NOT negotiable. You must be able to meet those times in order to reduce confusion and keep schedules intact;
  • Participants must have access to the Omnip)o(tent's forums and check them for updates to the tournament periodically;
  • Players banned from our forums and/or our servers will not be eligible;
  • Any person found to abandon their team in a match due to non-emergency reasons will be given the forum rank "QUITTER" and/or other insults. Don't leave a map early because you are losing. If your time is so special, don't play in the match;
  • Please please please show up; double and triple check the schedules posted. If you cannot play in a match, then you must let your captain know beforehand;
  • All usual Omnip)o(tents server rules apply, and will be enforced by admins;
  • This should be obvious, but if you have anyone aliasing as your team member or anything of the sort, your team will automatically forfeit the match and may be expelled from the tournament;
  • The decision of the admin in charge of a match is final.

Good timing on this, I mentioned this to some guys yesterday. I think it'd be pretty cool. Not sure if I'll play (though I'd like to) because of consistent connection issues and being rusty from not having played more than a couple of games in the last month or so...

:thumbright: Have a look at the link I gave mate, particularly the announcement thread. Matches at on Saturdays and Sundays at 10pm British time. I have deliberately chosen the times so that both European and North American players can play. I'll update my first post with more info...
