Waiting is always a good idea. But if anyone wants to pull the trigger right now, I'd hit the Q6600 G0 stepping @ 2.4. These OC nicely to 3+ with decent air cooling. Only about $275.
This is the beast that will power our new server in Chicago.

UT3 Requirements
Not going for the 8 core setup??? :)
If I were buying now, that is certainly what I would get. They are in pletiful supply and overclock easily.
I am going to hate myself for asking this, but is anyone running VISTA 64 with high end graphic cards?

The rumblings I am hearing are that UT3 will be slightly lighter in terms of load on the CPU.
And after thinking about it, we probably only use one whole core of our system now. Even if our requirements were to triple, we would still have a core left over.
I'm guessing that we will run out of bandwidth before we run out of CPU power. But if that is not the case, I will pull the trigger on an eight core system.

Well, I have to imagine that between SV and MM, that is over half of the bandwidth. That is 52 peeps right there.
I wouldn't mind playing some 64p matches, but I don't know if that is sustainable.
They claim that they have fixed a bunch of the netcode, but that does not mean it is any more efficient in terms of bandwidth.

Well, I am really looking for a method to run 4GB of ram. Just wanted to see what people's experience with the ATI and NVIDIA drivers were since those are the major failings of XP64 and VISTA64.
Well, 32 bit OSs tend to have issues accessing more than their address space without some ugly hacks.
And from what I understand, XP does some stuff that basically gives 2GB to "Windows" and 2GB to "applications". But, even then your video card eats into that address space as well. So, if you have say a 8800GTS 640, you can subtrace 640MB from your 2GB right off the bat.
