Alright I had enough of the title. I'm going for DM-QuiltedEdifice because:
  • 40 Shards likes DM-Quilt
  • & I don't like one syllable titles
  • & the whole meaning fits perfectly with the map
  • & it's not basic. I don't really care if the people don't vote for it if it sounds hard (no adren or arena in title)
  • & I'm okay if the people don't vote for it because they don't know what it means. Hehe, kindof encourages players to extend their vocab in a way :P
  • & we don't have a map on the server that starts with 'Q' lol
  • & this is basically the last obsticle to leap over. As soon as we select a title, the sooner we have the map up on the server.
If anyone feel against it please make a post asap because Wraith is going to receive this map at December 13 (that is this Saturday) ;)

Lastly is that the latest version is up on FileFront so check it out to make sure you're happy with this :D

When it does appear, my one tip would be don't ghost, as your computer may suddenly explode for no apparent reason.

Okay I think the map was a success. There's just a few things that need patching.
Weapons: We may have to organize the weapons. With only ten seconds to go & while the players still don't know where to go (since it's like memorizing four maps), they will struggle in finding weapon lockers. I was proposing to place a weapon locker in front of every playerstart.
Also it doesn't make sense to have some rooms to enable all weapons (even shock, flak, rockets, link, etc...) while some rooms won't get it until wave #. Should I place some weapon lockers (with good weapons) in places where you can get it at wave 1, but not as exposed as the weapons that hold the lower weapons.
Lastly, I think the mines should be available on an earlier wave. (maybe wave 3 or 4). By the time it hits wave 10, players forget about the mines. Not only that, mines are useless in the later waves since they always explode in your face when the whole army is attacking you.

Water Passage Gate: In the waterfall room, some people got stuck down there. After escorting a few of them, I've noticed that swimming through that gate is difficult to do without a trans. I'm going to raise those bars so it's easier to pass.

Shard's Emitters: I've never used those emitters that triggers on specific waves so I never saw this coming. The emitters never worked. We might have to use the method I'm more familiar with.

Navigation: Yes, it is a large map. People were getting lost. Probably the biggest complaint is that people are lost. I don't think we need to place "directions" in the neutral zone, but Wail had a good idea that I'm willing to throw out there. Should we have teleporters that will teleport players from safe spot to safe spot. These teleporters won't open until a specific wave (I'm thinking wave 11 where the green raptors & seekers come out). I remember hearing a medic call that happens to be in the oposite end of the map...It took me ages to get there since ten seekers were pulling me around >.<
This is an option that should take notice...What do you think?

Other than that I have no idea that needs fixing. Yeah we got a few peeps complaining it's alittle difficult, but I want it alittle difficult.

Any comments, complaints, suggestion, ideas, questions, ummm, sayings about this map please post before beta 2 is released....

Did Hornet see the map yet??

so is this map finnaly on the server? i have had time to beat gears of war 2, call of duty 2, bioshock, and get a level 57on maple story...lol

Yeah we crashed into many snags throughout the project...too many snags.

I forgot to bring several resources from my Dorm so I can't make beta II over break. We're not done with snags yet :P

I recently got to play it and I thought this map was outstanding.

I really liked exploring the map. Running down hallways set a very strange mood for me. A good strange mood.

I loved being in one world, then running through hallways only to find myself in a whole different setting.

With this being our first attempt for a map like this, I thought we did a great job. Even though we had some problems and little tune ups, it really came out good in the end.

Maybe we can take what we have learned right now and make another " QUILT " map.

I personally enjoyed participating in this project and I hope everyone who plays the map likes it.

Thanks everyone who liked it and participated in the creation. Great Job everyone.

I'm very happy that you get to see the map to see it very pleasing, Reload! :D
Have you figured out the secret yet? It's a toughie :P

Beta II should be coming up shortly. I'll fix the weapons (specially making the mines available at wave 3-5). I'm adding lockers infront of player start (not containing the goodie guns). I'll strictly make the flak, rockets, ripper, and link available in the later waves (in reload's gates, & in my room that doesn't open in later wave)...

I'll also patch up Shard's emitters.


The number one complaint I hear is that the map is tooooo big. I don't think I should fix that in this update, but we should definitely consider size whenever we make the second quilt. I am aware that several other people are interested for this (like Seintz) so I'm hoping sometime in the spring or summer we'll start up a new one ;)

Is there any last requests before beta II is released?
