Maps that need work.

Here's a specific forum for discussing potential maps, maps that need a vacation and optimizations and modifications for better playability.

That trapped levi on icarus is retarded. I got in it not realizing I could do NOTHING with it except spam a node. I did not want to abandon it either for the enemy, but I could do NOTHING with it, can't even drive it off the cliff. Among other things, if you fly the raptor to the very top you can walk on an invisible ceiling. Also the hidden targent painter at the way bottom of this level is pointless, b/c the main nodes are covered and there are so many platforms and lvls that it should be a deeemer if anything. Not a good map imho.

K How about an extra node in teh middle, some mantas and raptors. Get rid of the levi, and stick a deemer instead of the painter. Anyway can get a elevator to respond to a vehicle?

Yes that type of mover can and has been done already - look at ONS-Echo-102[ECE] for vehicle elevators that work (mostly). Having said that, all of this discussion is a waste of time when it comes to Icarus if you ask me. That map has far too much wrong with it to be worth the time needed as fixing the flaws would make it not be the same map and at that point you might as well start from scratch anyways.

Spend the effort on another map that already has a solid base to work from - like Sunrise as has been suggested. Sunrise could be a truely great map with some minor tweaks and geographic alterations to allow for alternate attack paths and having the middle of the map actually matter for a change.

As it stands right now, only people with no understanding of this map (or those who lack the patience to study the in-game minimap for 5 seconds) spend any time fighting in the middle as those two nodes are pointless until the key battle between the two corner nodes is resolved for one side or the other. If someone is willing to take on the editing job, I'm sure there will be plenty of suggestions on how to improve what's there already.
