Just another gamer :) As far as introducing myself, I am an older player, been playing video games since Zelda came out on the NES a bazillion years ago... well longer than that really, my first game was on an 8 inch floppy. When I'm not gaming I'm probably sleeping or changing a diaper, which is my full time job atm.
I am a Biologist by education, but have never had a biology related job in my life. I write addons for WoW and have programmed a few odds and ends in various languages mostly for crunching ugly data. I have made maps for Starcraft and a few for original UT, tho nothing for ut2k4. I enjoy playing with high voltage "toys", including a homemade Tesla-coil that I am not allowed to use in my new complex due to fire concerns :( I'd also be a little nervous firing that thing up withing 30 feet of my daughter so, yeah, thats in the closet atm.
Recently moved to AZ, where pasty people like myself get turned into bacon in about 12 seconds in the sun... its 112ยบ F outside atm, but its a "dry" heat. Moved here from upstate NY where we had about 300/365 cloudy days a year and thought this would be an improvement... think I'm moving again soon :)
Computer is homemade, ancient, and very obsolete... let me post my specs so you can get a good laugh.

ASUS p4T Mobo (4x AGP no PCIE) (technically a compaq clone, orig died)
P4 socket 423 2.0ghz (obsolete 6mo after build)
1 Gig of some funky now also obsolete RAM that runs really HOT
Geforce 3 64Meg
Monitor - ancient 19" trinitron CRT that weighs 50lbs or so
Audigy 2ZS (2nd newest thing in the system)
Coolmaster case (newest piece ... need ridiculous airflow to keep cool)
Plextor DVD/CDR/DVDR
5$ keboard (my 1983 kbd recently died... i cried, that thing was TOUGH)
some 5.1 creative speaker system

running Winblows atm tho usually I have some flavor of Linux, i needed to use some software I couldn't get in Linux recently so caved in to the great oppressor.

So, when you're done laughing at my geriatric computer, nice to meet you :)

Edit:
ya, I am also a huge forum noob and have no idea how to properly format anything in PHP or HTML really so, my apologies [align=left]

Welcome!

Wowsers on your vid card. The rest of the machine should handle UT2k4 pretty well, but I am surprised you can see anything with a GF3!

Have fun fragging!

I can hear the sizzle from clear down here... ;)

Welcome to the forums, Bio! :alien:

Moving from the Midwest to Texas....twas a little fried myself....and learned very quickly...run from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned store! :D

I ~like~ your kind of toys!! If that's your daughter in your avatar...she's a beauty! And yes...keep well away from Mr. Tesla's coil!

Parts is parts as long as it'll run UT! Been seeing ya Monster Mashing and you do just fine! :compress:

Hey man, I saw you. Here in Florida, it's like 90 degrees, but it's wet heat so it feels like 112.

My first video game that I remember playing was Super Mario Kart for the 64. Or something like that.

Welcome to the forums.

If programming is your forte we have many projects to consume your time with. The game code and engine are based off something very similar to java.

I believe you have the worst system specs on this forum by far. Since you are running windows you probably should take advantage of ventrilo if your system can handle it :P.

Welcome Bio, I have seen you mashing as well and you do just fine. Though your machine is running betterthan mine at the momment. I seem to have a software melt down about every three weeks or so. Starting to get the hang of this microtrash and segmenting different priority items away from the os so I can keep them running when I have to reinstall. Well you will fit in just fine considering I do what you do most of the time, take care of kids that is!!!!
