I'm looking to buy a new puppie, in perticular an American Staffordshire Terrier, but I hate puppie mills and would prefer to buy of a respectable breeder. If anybody knows of a good respectable breeder that can show heritage of the puppie and has access to the parents, I would travel long and far to find my new family member. E-mail me or respond here if you know of any and thanks!
EDIT: Would love to find a brindle or blue, thanks again!

I recommend checking out the American Kennel Club's website...
http://www.akc.org
Besides a ton of information on breeds, they've got links to a lot of very good resources.
Also, check out the breed's parent club website at...
http://www.amstaff.org/
That's a lot of dog, Savage! Having had various terriers as family pets in the past, I can tell you they're very high energy and need to be given boundaries and a LOT of exercise! :shappy:

Thank you so much! I'll check it out right now and yes, they do require at least a walk a day if not two and a lot of space which I'm able to provide now that I have my own house with a decent sized yard. I'll take him on frequint walks with me when I go play disc golf at the local park which I visit every couple of days, he would enjoy that I'm sure. A nice walk around the neighborhood every morning would be good too. I have wanted one for a long time when I seen a buddies brindle Am-Staff but didn't want to buy one until I had a place big enough for him and now I think I'm ready. Thanks again!

Actually I lied... I had an Am-Staff a long time ago when I was getting into a bunch of trouble. Found the little baby in the snow wondering in below zero temp. His paws were all red and bleeding from the cold and all the walking. He was small, a puppy, and a beautiful solid white with a red nose. I couldn't keep him but... He ended up eating my buddies horse steroids... Yea, nice. Stunted his growth a bit but he was okay. I ended up giving him to my cousin.

The http://www.amstaff.org has a lot of breeder listings, are they good?
Looked through about a dozen breeders there and nothing available... This is going to be tuffer than I thought.

Well...for the most part if a kennel/breeder is a member of the AKC, then you're not going to get a puppy mill mentality. True breeders do everything they can to make sure that bloodlines are well documented and that the dogs they produce are as close to the "official definition" for the breed as possible. You most certainly will pay more from one of these breeders...but it's sort of like insurance in that you're not getting mixed breed, inbred or genetically defective dog. That's not saying that you won't run into some 'tards that're AKC members though. If you've got a local kennel club in your area, go talk to them! They don't have to be just AmStaff breeders...but anybody with an AKC affiliation should have some good info on reliable breeders or the not so reliable ones. Word travels pretty fast in breeder circles. You could also ask any veterinarians in your area for recommendations. Once you get a list of breeders, make some calls to get a feel for the people, then plan your road trips. ;)
