I'm looking for a good website host for a gaming website. I made a website for a guild in the game dofus and will have my website subscription expire soon. I'm looking for one that has many features and is not to heavy on my wallet. The current host I'm using is called Spurz. I paid about $120 for a year subscription and i was not all the happy about what they offered. They had very few templates and was limited to what i can personalize. So with my subscription expiring, I'm thinking of switching to a new host. My current guild website is http://www.werewolvesofastrub.com. I would appreciate any help you can offer....Thanks

I used to use GoDaddy's cheap hosting which runs about $5 a month, so about half what you were paying. I don't know what Spurz was offering you, but GoDaddy's $5 hosting is a full / real hosting account, so you aren't limited by templates or anything that's pre-set up for you.

I used 1and1. They too had a package for about $5 a month. They have many different packages and offer intro deals from time to time (I got a great deal of 3 years free, but that's long gone).

We use imageleet here . We were at 1and1 . I prefer imageleet over the other. I don't know if 1and1 have updated their SQL but they were a version behind when we switched. I would imagine they are current by now .

1and1 uses their own control panel software I think . While imageleet uses the more popular cpanel not sure what goodaddy is using .

My php forums gets a lot of people with issues for GoDaddy not being up to date on php - how do you find it? They using 5.3 now?

At work we use Fluent. Very good loads of control, can upload any CMS we like. I believe its quite costly however (I think nearly $400 a month) But for personal use I used streamline, that wasnt so bad fair amount of freedom, Cost over £200 a year however... UK systems seem veeery expensive lol.

Whatever I use tho its never CP based, always phpmyadmin for the mySQL and then whatever system we upload (wordpress currently, hopefully joomla - if i ever get my head around it!, maybe drupal) with their own admin panels.

I did a lot of research a few months back and found this page:

http://webhostinggeeks.com/

Based on it I looked for reviews all over the internet. Ended up picking http://www.webhostingpad.com/ and have had no issues. I run three domains from my account, all run WordPress with no issues. I got a special deal they were running - it was $51 for two years.

Good luck.

Well Webs gives you the basic pack for free and it's easy to set up.

No messing around with html or anything, it's all prefab.
But you can buy pro packages... worth having a look.
