I really don't see why they don't offer a mouse and keyboard or even a gamepad with consoles. Then again it would put the out of the box person at a disadvantage.

I think you were being facetious here, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was a major factor in disallowing crossplatform play. Microsoft absolutely would want to coddle their customers from having to face the big bad world where people can turn 180 degrees in under 5 seconds and don't need auto-aim to hit their targets.

Microsoft specifically forbids mouse support on XBox games.

And that's exactly what the article is getting at. If they allowed combined play, people would see what a disadvantage they're at, and it would be bad for business for them.

Been saying this for years. No console controller will ever beat a good keyboard and mouse configuring for any FPS games.
