I will accept if it's just my perception because I don't know how to find any stats, but it seems that many people use blue team preference. Most of the time blue is stacked and I think it's just bad for the server - ppl get demoralized; ppl quit.

I was wondering if you guys have ever tried or would consider using a mutator to disable team pref or auto shuffles players?

It is not just your perception. Before my 3rd (and final this time) retirement, I had a little fun:

1) Set team pref to Red (you will get it 99% of the time).
2) A. If deadlock map (Deathdome, bitchslap, etc), go play freon.
B. If Tank-Me-Up, go play freon.
C. If Supershock map, enjoy raping the blue prefs.
D. If ONS map, WINNER.
3) ????
4) Profit.

Hope this helps,

P.S.

-Goose-'s guide to botting accusations:

If accused of botting, check ping of "accuser"
While accuser ping > 200, assume accuser = Tommo
Else, set ignore
If "accuser" = Tommo, play along...

d1rt, it's not just your perception. It's been that way for a while, but you're right, it's gotten way out of hand recently. A fix to disable team pref is (at last I knew) in the testing phase. I'll see if it's ready for the server.

And goose, team pref red is the same as no pref, since it loads the red team first by default (see you after your 3rd reinstall).

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who read binary, and everyone else.
4013 is only a FAD
And 2989? Well that's just BAD

Fixed, but yeah, this is basically the way it goes.

Awesome. That's fantastic news. TY.

We had the same issue a long time ago on the USSR 32ppl server. I think we used a modified Titan mutator and it worked quite well.

edit: Actually, the mutator may just have been for team balancing...can't member.

Lol, good luck with that... I might be back for UT2014, but I wouldn't count on it... might be completely off grid by then.

I'm pretty sure this started that Red team won by maybe 70% margin so alotta us pre loaded blue. There was a link maybe on the main Ut2004 forums a while back. It was a discussion topic betwen Jdub and myself for a while.

Was some sort of change implemented for this? Because the server has a definite lag spike when someone joins or leaves. This could be because the server has been up for a while and the cache is just full of garbage though.

And yeah, my team pref is set to Blue. I can change it though I welcome the challenge :stongue:

My SSR eff is now at 89.7%, its only bound to get higher now that goose quit. :sclapping:

Yeah, but UT2004 doesn't really have a valid/useful centralized stat tracking system (which I pointed out in that thread actually).

I think I was just linking the start of the red vs blue theory.

Anyway for the server to /ignore team preference and just do /random?
