Firewall blocking MP features.

Hey, I just reinstalled UT2004 for the first time on Windows 7 and it's telling me 'My firewall has not yet allowed UT2004 for online play.' I've now added a firewall exception for UT2004 but it's still not letting me play. Any help? :ssmile:

EDIT: Gone a bit deeper now; I enabled incoming ports 1033-3000 UDP and outgoing 1033-40000 UDP but it still simply blocks me out of the multiplayer feature.

In the firewall allow ut2004.exe . Right ? Didn't it propmt you to allow or block the first time you started the program?

That is overkill.

Forward the following ports.

TCP 28902

UDP 6666
UDP 6667
UDP 7778

I was aware it was a little much but google doesn't provide much on this because the game's so old.

Strangely, after I changed the firewall settings, it's asked for allow/blocking each program. Pretty sure I didn't delete anything I shouldn't have. However, the one thing that hasn't asked is UT.

I've now added inbound/outbound exceptions for those ports and for UT2004 in Advanced Firewall. It's still saying I've blocked the program. Are there any other files UT accesses while playing MP that I should allow? Someone mentioned a dll?

EDIT: Fixed it. I made UT2004 ignore my firewall by going into UT2004.ini in the Virtual Store and adding the string:

[FireWall]
IgnoreSP2=1

Strange that it works, considering that's an XP command, but it did. Now I can't connect to Monster Mash anyway because the connection to the download server is at best intermittent. I've got 50% into the 463K 'WatchYourBack' so far in 5 minutes. I reckon the Chicago server is playing up because it's 5/20 when server 2 is 20/20.

They are both the same redirect. I would think it's on your end or your routing there.

Dunno, seems like some other users might be having similar issues.

If you get this:

It means you are a limited user.

Give the entire UT2004 directory Full Control to Users:

I highly doubt that. I have full and sole admin privileges on my computer. The aforementioned solution worked for me despite the fact I'm on Windows 7, although your solution is worth trying if mine doesn't work.

I dual account on Windows 7. I have an administrator account for installing stuff via "Right Click -> Install" and my normal limited account. I got that popup until I gave myself full control.
