version mismatches occur when you extract data from your cache and put them directly into your UT folders. It is new to me that Monster Evolution has a changed "Detail" package but here is solution to your problem.

1. close UT 2004
2. open your UT2004/Textures folder
3. drag the Detail.utx file to your desktop for backup (move, not copy, there mustn't be a "Detail" file left in the UT folder)
4. restart UT and rejoin the server. (It will download the right version of the file into your cache when you connect)

Like i thought, Monster Evolution doesn't have the "Detail" file updated. Put the backup from the desktop back in the textures folder and UT will run again, but that sadly won't solve the mismatch error.

The method I described normally works for any mismatch on Death Warrant servers.

Do you use a cache extractor?
Do you play on other servers that had updates recently?

As a rule we do not modify (nor allow various mappers to modify) standard UT files.

I can think of 2 possibilities.

1. Ant created a system file (detail.u) for the server. (Ant, Wail or someone else will have to let you know that)

2. Your detail.utx has been modified (have you been working in the editor lately?)

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who read binary, and everyone else.
4013 is only a FAD
And 2989? Well that's just BAD

I don't have a detail.u and I can connect without problems. (That's why I looked in other folders to find a possible mismatch)

Is it possible to just replace it with an original one of someone else?

A possiblity that i could see solving this is to reinstall the game but if i do that will i lose my progress and be labeled as an imposter?

If you are using an original version of the game, and know your CD-key (the one you used this time to install) you won't lose your progress. Your characters are linked to the CD-key. And since the character data is kept on the server, not your UT installation, you won't loose it by reinstalling. You will have to download all the server files when you connect again though. If i remember right, stuff like installed skins and such are left in the install directory, UT only removes files it installed itself.

If you used a copy of the game with a keygen there is still the chance to restore your characters by donating 5 bucks per char to the almighty webadmin, (I guess Ant in that case), but i guess it helps if you write down the ID before you remove your UT. (in game: settings/game -> bottom there is a very long number/letter combination, write that down.
