Here's a specific forum for discussing potential maps, maps that need a vacation and optimizations and modifications for better playability.

This is a gorgeous map by Nathillien. He is the guy who did Crossfire, Severence, Ascendency. I had the map modified from ECE to regular vehicles and it more for 6v6 competitive play. However it needs play testing and most people in the competitve ONS community are too lazy to actually test it.

As Hornet commented on ONScntreal this map isnt exactly huge but it isnt small either. It is roughly the size of Arctic or Torlan. THe vehicle dispersment as well as weapons load out have been tweaked specifically for a competitive setting. Thus a player must decide what he/she wants to have for weapons or vehicles. Places like the center node for example are meant to sacrifice power for speed. Thus while you dont have very powerful weapons there you have fast vehicles to get you to attack the enemy nodes.

The node layout is identical to Severence and the map itself is completely symmetrical. (Might not be 100% symmetrical but i cant anything really that is different that would make any difference in terms of balance or game play. )

yea i wish the map was expanded, but no biggy. i think its very well balanced map. Nodes arent too far for a walk, lockers have plenty of ammo, ect. :brilsmurf:

the map was tweaked in some regards to engourge walking to some nodes. THe best example of this is going from your primary node to the closest side node. The spawn that is closest to the side node has rox and i think shock and is pretty powerful plus there is a 100a on the way to that side node. so while you are on foot you are given powerful weapons and armor so that you can survive a battle when you get to that side node.

And Hornet i actually didnt do any of the phsycial work on this map. I merely was the "producer" i suppose you could say meaning that i was the one who came up with all the ideas to have things changed. Another ONS pplayer named ManMyth did the editting in UEd. Im not a coder in the slightest so i dont know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to UEd.

Toxic is a busy man, but he will or possible has already check(ed) this map stuff out, he is always looking for new maps to put on the server. Always love new things in this game.

I did have the original running here for a bit, but the game play sucked.

Will have a look at this new version this weekend some time.

as i said the map was tweaked for a more competitive setting. The ECE vehicles were removed and everything has been balanced imo. There are a few slight problems since it is beta but nothing huge. And most of those problems are me just being Anal retentive and wanting things perfect :p

But the flow of the game is completely different now and will provide a better experience.

OK, I threw it up on the server. But I had to try a different node layout. I don't think the default will work, and I'm not sure if mine will. It's a little small, but we'll give it a go.

i would prefer if you didnt tweak with the node layout initially. i would like to just get some feedback on the current set up since that is the one im having worked on. i need to get some real ideas of how the game will flow with larnge number of people.

and it isnt THAT small. no smaller than torlan or crossfire and people seem to play them. hell it is much larger than Dreamus and people love that horrible map.
