Maps that Suck - Part 2

Here's a specific forum for discussing potential maps, maps that need a vacation and optimizations and modifications for better playability.

OK, in an effort to rid our selves of some more stinkers, lets get nominations.

Recently Removed:

Thunderstruck
StormyWeather

Any other maps make you cringe? And if they do, do you think they are fixable?

All of these maps that are worth a hard look. Not all of them are "maps that suck" I'm just throwing out some that might be worth a look by the mappers to see if some tweaks might make them usable.

ONS-Magma - dawn with lava, not terrible just kinda blah, more nodes might make it interesting as there are long travel times now

ONS-Sunrise - could be good with some tweaks, someone take this one on please as I kinda like it and would love to see a tuned -32p version.

ONS-Argento-Del-Alma - not an awful map but could use some more nodes and for the love of god fix the skybox. I'm still dizzy from my last game on it weeks ago.

ONS-Torment - terrible as is but the idea has some potential. Needs some heavy editing to make it work. Titan gave it a shot but gave up after a short attempt at it as people kind of lost interest. Probably should be gone if no one takes this one on but not a complete loss.

Now, the other category...


The "Dear god delete this %#!@% POS!" maps :

ONS-Theraphin - far too small for 32p, more nodes might help but probably not. This one has a very similar feel to Thunderstruck with the exception of the lightning strikes on the latter.

ONS-RapaNui - trippy map, but again too small and not enough nodes with too much focus on the center

ONS-Digital - cute idea but it doesn't work, no way to get to center node without a raptor, very weak weapon lockers/vehicles, not enough nodes, counterintuitive terrain. Might be savable but I'm not going to push for someone to take it on. Without some heavy editing, it needs to go.

All of these maps have been removed.

Except for Sunrise, which Hornet is working on, I like RapaNui the best and would love it if someone could do something with that one.

Also removed a lot of duplicate maps (like 3 versions of Dria) as per feedback in another post:

Other multiple versionson Spam Vikings: Dria: 3 versions
Redplanet: 3versions
Severance: 2 ver. (3 if you count Maelseverance)
Dawn: 2 versions
Dreamus: 2 versions
Frostbite: 2 versions
Primeval: 2versions
Torlan: 2 versions
Adara: 2versions

I left the base maps because newer people recognize them, and if the duplicate was a good one (i.e. Dria-Gorz) I left that in.

However, there is no more base crossfire, and only one copy of Primeval, and that's the T32 version. There is also no arctic Stronghold. I REFUSE to put that on the server. :cyclopsani:

I like it as it is but .. the weapon lokers and that node high up .. i like the textures as they are but that can be changed to mm something less dark .. I could be one more little spam map I dont know Its fun to me and with those few changes avobe could really bring some wicked spammy fun.. - -

I think Digital pwns. Played it once, of course, I got the tank and only died once or twice that game, so it may only be my perspective....

The concept is way cool. The execution is terrible.

Urtho has plenty of feedback for this one. Pick it as a project, and post.

I can say I only played it twoce and it probably needs more nodes, better weapon lockers, a locker for the middle node and some jump pads or teleporters or something for the middle.

Cams you need to get out there and play more! Tempura has been gone for a while now. And Maelseverance was removed today.

Sandcrack(2) or whatever the name is should probably be on this list as well. Very small for 32 players, and every game I've ever played on it has been a match for about 3 minutes and then mindless base raping and spawn killing for the losing side until time runs down or the winning team actually makes a push for the other core.
