3. Player skill; aim being the most important one/weapon choice being the second

lol. Alittle more info may be required. Like who is pwning your ass. Is it everybody or is it one of the locals .

The best thing you can do to get better is spec better player for awhile . I still spec people to learn things.

Either that or be more specific on what type of help you need .

ONS is a strategy game. Understanding where your team needs you and where you would serve them best not only helps the team, you will find your score elevate to at least an average. This is because you tend to engage in activities that help the team, which many times are point making activities. You make a lot of points from taking down, starting, and charging nodes. There are times when I don't engage in point making activities. If I have a good bender gunner on Dreamus. I will drive around screwing with the other team and healing the bender. If someone is kicking ass with the tank on Dawn at the end of the valley I will try to chase off raptors and heal the tank. On the other hand I will camp a vehicle if I see a key vehicle repeatedly misused on a map, so it can be used correctly. If you want to have kickass scores or want to improve your aim, you may want to train on Deathmatch. There are also some really hard assault serves out there, and many of them incorporate vehicles. As far as ONS goes, your helping if:
You don't protect the core.
You heal and charge nodes.
You protect vehicles that are screwing up the enemy position.
You don't try to use the green turret guns on the Levi. Just get out and use a shock or avril.
Keep up the aggression. SolidState maybe shooting down everyone that comes near his node, but that node is not being charged while he is doing that. You don't lose points for dieing, unless you kill yourself.
Communicate, when you can.
Understand your vehicles weaknesses and strengths. The levi can be useful on some maps, but on maps like DryIce it gets picked apart in a minute, because of 4 Cicadas a bunch of mantas and several raptors on the map. Cicacadas are ideal for taking down slow and stationary targets: levi, tank, paladins, and nodes. they suck at dogfighting a raptor. Try mastering what you can. The manta is a bitch to master, I haven't even come close, but when you do you can break avril locks and squash enemies all day.

I think the only reason I am addicted to this game at this point, is because of that feeling you get when the entire team is moving like clockwork.

The first step to being a real pro is drinking, the more the better. Alcohol loosens your metacarpal tendricoltrons and optimizes your neurophysic chemograms. Despite the fact that I made all that medical mumbojumbo up and I have no scientific evidence at all, my sloppy drunk Friday and Saturday night sessions are always a blast and I pizOWN nOObie bOObies until I fall asleep on my keyboard. :bio:

In all seriousness, Bomzin is right--spec to learn! SCK server is a good place to learn ONS. DAMN is a good place to learn TAM. Just two off the top of my head...PM me if you want the IP addresses!

If you're getting killed to easily then its a question of movement and tactics. If its an ONS map your primary focus should be side stepping side to side quickly. Unfortunately the dodge move is very easy to track and the dodge jump is even easier. To compound the dodge issue your accuracy while doing the move becomes more questionable then not. So therefore dodge jumps and such should be avoided, unless you are trying to move distances.

As far as tactics E summed it up best with the whole be aware crap. Try to limit ventrilo or music issues. You have no clue how many times I've been mowed down by mantas on public servers because i couldn't hear the vehicle over the talk on ventrilo. The other thing is be aware at what vehicles spawned, and be prepared to face them at a later time. Rapters are notorious for running interference since they are more expendable at the start of a map then a manta which is filling short bus duties. Just know how to take down vehicles, and you should be comfortable with the shock and avril and how to apply them against vehicles.

Manta get knocked around by shock balls easily, benders are suckers for rockets, raptors can be picked off with shock prime or avrils (or even flak depending on range). Tank and levi's are tougher since they have a ton of health, and do a boat load of damage per hit. Try to use terrain to your advantage, and if you can grab a double damage to get the job done then all the better.

Thats my secret  I like the mid air pluck as i call it.

Also spawning at the only node that has the shock rifle can be predictable /\ /\ as well.
