New computer

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834220104

seems the vid card might be over heatting after about 20 mins of play. I cant get ATI tool to show the temp on this card.

I start with some glitchy play but the FPS stay high then the black square blocks start and usually I just crash to desk top.

CPU's are only running like 50% at max and the temp never goes over 68C so far that I have read thats a normal to lower normal temp.

Heres the last crash:

Could be a good guess . I have a laser temp. probe that I use to pinpoint heat problems . Think they can be picked up fairly cheap .

Either that or run it wait till it happens . Shut it down , unplug it and stick your finger in there and feel it .

Here is a cheapy temp probe .

Love Harbor Freight for all the tools I only use now and again. Good prices and the stuff seems to work.

Thats a great idea Ill see if I can get to it. I am thinking about trying to open the CD door to met more air in as well.

It runs good otherwise really nice frame rates even with very high settings.

Is the processor temp stable??

If it is, then you need to RMA it fast.....
cause your card sounds bad.

Newegg's good with returns tho.

CPU's idled at 47C ran up to 72 C with the game going . Yeah Im RMA it tonight or Sunday, I can't find any tools that will tell my GPU temps. The card is an ATI x1700 and of course ATI doesn't do drivers for it.

We had to scramble to get another PC for my wifes gig with Adobe Pagemaker all weekend. So ill handle that baby next. I kinda planned on trying to load UT on it again and "burn it in" before I send it back or maybe thats burn it down.

Its been a wild 3 weeks with computers for me. nothin like spending 2 grand on 3 differant computers and not having anything worth a shit to show for it.

After waiting 20 mins at Best buy today to buy a computer, I told my wife Im gonna take all the computers I own, the 50' plasma TV, and pile them up outside and burn them and star reading books again.

She suggested running them over with the van.

I overheard two Best buy big wigs talking in the computer aile how 2 outta the 10 HP computers they took out of the box that day didnt even come on.

I remember the day when you bought a computer and they "burned it in" 24 hours before they sent it to you. I know there all shit and made in China and all that and I expect junk but its just getting to the point Im not gonna spend the money anymore.

- Crap 2 grand? ! .. This one that I just build didn't even reach 1 grand ..started with nothing but ideas .. then all came from newegg.com - of course you gotta have patience , time and know what you're buying - I got most of the advice on this from my fellow clan mates (thanks)- Runs pretty cool 42c load on cpu- and Game FPS never drop below 60 on any map so im pretty happy and the time and money spent were too worth it - of course is a big big big space eating desktop pc -

Sheesh man -- I feel your pain.

I built a screamin' desktop with
3.2Ghz P4
Solid Intel MOBO
2GB Ram
Winfast NVidia 128MB card
summer of "05 for about $1200. Its great now but the 1st P4 was an overheater -- eventually had it replaced by intel after buying a new case and trying everything else to cool it.....
The replacement P4 was a DUD that wouldn't power up -- then I finally got them to replace the MOBO and P4 which are the curent ones.

The whole thing took 3+ months.....

Ahh, the fun of cheap manufacturing and no quality standards whatsoever....
