Hey folks!

We've recently added a package of new Zounds to our TAM/FREON server,  Death Warrant: The World's Most Infamous Arena.

If you've never had the pleasure of playing on this server, now would be a great time to stop by and test out your TDM skills -and- the new Zounds!  Zounds are sound clips from a variety of media, including TV shows, movies, songs and other games.  We have compiled a new collection of 700+ clips to enhance your in-game experience.

To bring up your Zound menu in-game, simply press your END key.  This menu allows you to scroll through the available Zounds, save the ones you like the best in a “favorites” list for quick access and also allows you to perform several other Zound related tasks.

If you’re in the mood for a good laugh, we highly recommend stopping by Infamous for some crazy Zounds and cool FREON play.  You can find The World's Most Infamous Arena at:  216.86.152.24:4444   Also, don't forget to stop by the Gametracker pages located under the "Resources" button for more server info.

If you need a little help getting started using Zounds, all you need to do is ask anyone in the server that's wearing a DW> tag.  If you'd like to email your rants or raves, send 'em to:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

A big "thank you!!" goes out to DW>Peace_Frog and DW>Morpheus for doing the heavy lifting!!
(btw...if you're emotionally scarred or pass out from laughing while in the server...it's all THEIR fault!!  Or..if you want to personally abuse them...errr thank them, you can email them at:

Enjoy!

Monster Mash – Names and Games

Pick a name already! Or…why you should never be labeled Imposter!

On a daily basis, we delete characters from both Monster Mash servers that are tagged with the _Imposter suffix.  The server automatically adds this to character names that are already in use.  If you see your character name displayed like this, for example:  Death_Imposter  you should know that the name "Death" is taken and you will need to make up a different character name or you will face deletion and have to start over.

What’s in a Name?

Further, in our quest to make the server happy by keeping the player info files neat and tidy, we also delete players who have numbers for their names.  Character names showing up as numbers usually happens because:

1)      The player doesn’t have a name entered in their UT settings.

2)      The player is having connection issues (packet loss or interrupted connections) and

when they try to rejoin the server, it still sees them as connected and automatically

         assigns them a number.

If you think your number is up or you just have to use your birth date, phone number or whatever, I suggest that you dress up the numbers with some letters or symbols, like:  <<12312012>>   so you can avoid becoming just another death statistic!  Wink

Owning is the name of the game….or Owning the Game!

A little reminder about the perils of not owning a legitimate copy of UT (or any multiplayer game for that matter).

Recently a ban was applied to a player and lo and behold there were many other people also banned!  If you’ve downloaded an illegal copy of the game or used a key generator or crack to get into an online game, you -are- playing on borrowed time.  The fate of one will indeed be the fate of many, if you share or obtained illegally, a GUID or CD key   Someone with your GUID gets banned, you get banned too!!  If this happens, your only option is to purchase a legal copy of the game and under no circumstances share your GUID or CD key with anyone!  After all, for 10 bucks you can have the whole UT Anthology!

UT3 Invasion Begins PDF Print E-mail

I would like to thank Fry for all his hard work on this . The following

is from him . Discussion on this can be found HERE

Well the Monster Mash III server has enough of the major bugs worked
out and enough new features implemented that it's ready for a real
launch.

There are a few things that it's good to know ahead of time to avoid
some potential frustration.  First, after you install the game, you'll
need to install the patch.  I've mirrored the file at
http://builderbrush.com/downloads/ut3/Unreal_Patch2.1.zip so you don't
have to track it down.

The game installs (by default) to your Program Files folder, with
subfolders Binaries, UTGame, etc.  It also creates My Documents\My
Games\Unreal Tournament 3, with a similar sub-folder structure.  Never
touch the Program Files folder.  Any configuration changes, mods, or
mutators you install should go in the My Documents\My Games\Unreal
Tournament 3 folder.

The movies played at startup significantly increase the time it takes
to load the game.  To keep them from playing, right-click whatever
icon you use to start the game, go to Properties, and add
-nomoviestartup to the very end of the 'Target' field.  Make sure
there is a space before the -nomoviestartup.  Note that when loading
maps you will no longer get the red screen with the spinning U logo,
you will get a screen that says "Precaching".

I've taken all the steps possible to make the downloading of packages
when you join the server as fast as possible, including compressing
all the mods and maps.  This will, however, somewhat increase the time
it takes to load a map the first time.  It has to decompress the
archive first.  Don't be too put off by the number of downloads, many
of them are less than 100k, so the last 20 downloads are almost
instant.

It's also helpful to know that the first time you load a new map,
monster, or weapon, your computer has to fully load and do some
processing on it, including prebuilding shader caches for the
materials and shadow lightmaps.  Having it do this ahead of time may
make for an annoying long first load, but it gives the game engine
more CPU cycles to make cool effects in-game.  It may look like your
game has just locked up, you won't hear any hard drive activity, but
if you check your Task Manager you'll see that your CPU(s) are maxed
out.  Also, if any newly loaded custom weapons don't show up (the
Weapon Factory will be invisible, but you can walk over it and pick up
the weapon, but it will be invisible inyour hands), you can reconnect
to the server to fix this.

Keybinds aren't set with console commands in-game, they're done in
your My Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament
3\UTGame\Config\UTInput.ini file (remember, always in your My
Documents folder).  I've created a copy of this file with a keybind
for tossing weapons (\), 3rd person view (F4), and moves the console
back to the Tilde (~) from the default F10.  Rename your current file
to something like UTInput.ORIG, and replace it with the one at
http://www.builderbrush.com/downloads/mm3/UTInput.ini (right-click,
save as).
To get the most out of the game, the graphics settings could use a
little tweaking.  Everyone's taste is different, but I'll give you my
setup.  On the main Video settings page, I use my native resolution,
and set my brightness to 4 right off the bat.  In the Advanced page, I
have all the sliders maxed, and all boxes checked except for VSync,
Motion Blur, and Bloom and Depth of Field.  This setup needs a pretty
fast PC.  If your performance is unacceptable with these settings, you
can play with the detail mode and effects detail, but I highly
recommend leaving the shadow settings maxed.  It's a big part of a lot
of maps, and doesn't impact FPS too much.

By default, UT3 is pretty loud.  I recommend setting Ambience at 2,
and everything else at 1.  In the 'Player' tab, be sure to set your
clan tag to MMA Smile.

The RPG itself is setup similarly to Druid's RPG, so much will be
familiar.  The RPG menu is on your L key, your artifact display is on
the left, U to use, brackets to switch.  Since there's no Adrenaline
in UT3, the RPG has a Mana readout on the left, as well as your XP
counter.

In addition to Weapons, Adrenaline, and Medic Master classes, you can
choose from Engineer, Vehicle, and SPAM master.  I'll leave you to
explore those.  Another new feature intended for high-level players is
a second tier to the class structure, which lets you buy Level 2 of
the Weapons, Adrenaline, and Medic class skills.  With this, you can
purchase an add-on class of Vehicle, Engineer, or SPAM.

Don't worry about losing your levels if you want to rebuild your
character, you can sell all your RPG points and rebuild.  Know that
when you sell all, it will kill you.  You will respawn next wave with
your new class.

You'll find a few artifacts you may not be familiar with: Fully Loaded
gives you all the standard weapons and 300 health for 100 mana, Mana
Gambling lets you bet your hard-earned mana double or nothing.  You'll
also find some classics like the Magic Weapon Maker, Medic Weapon
Maker, Globe of Invulnerability, Electromagnet, and in this game the
Triple Damage artifact.  Currently, anyone can buy Level 1 loaded
artifacts, but only Adrenaline Masters can buy the rest.

Some maps have vehicles, but pay attention if you see one approaching.
There may be a monster behind the wheel!!

That should be enough to get you started.

The UT3 Invasion has begun!
